The Georgia State Soccer Coaches Association has announced its award recipients for the 2008 season and Chestatee's Megan Fligg and Lauren Ables are among the honorees. Fligg, who led the Lady War Eagles with 13 goals and six assists in 2008 has been named the Class AAA Player of the Year, while Ables was selected as the Player of the Month.
JEFFERSON - The Flowery Branch boys track and field team got state titles from junior Daniel Drummond in the discus (171 feet, nine inches), and Otis Clark won the Class AAA state title in the high jump (6-8) to take the lead after the first day of the state meet (28 points) Thursday at Jefferson Memorial Stadium.
DAHLONEGA - Blessed Trinity proved to be a little too much for a young Lumpkin County team to handle Tuesday night at the Burial Grounds. The previously unbeaten Lady Indians fell 4-0 to the Lady Titans in the GHSA Class AAA girls soccer semifinals.

Patience isn't one of Richie Castruita's strong suits. Luckily for West Hall, the junior timed his goal-scoring runs to perfection on two separate occasions to help lead the Spartans (11-1-2) to their second straight appearance in the state semifinals.
JONESBORO - The Buford girls tennis team was unable to cap off their historic season with a championship. The Lady Wolves ended up losing out to Woodward Academy 3-0 on a hot Saturday afternoon in the GHSA class AAAA state championship at the Clayton International Park Tennis Center.
