Flowery Branch's Shaw commits to Yellow Jackets

Flowery Branch High senior quarterback Jaybo Shaw made a change in his college football plans Friday, switching his verbal commitment to Georgia Tech. The Falcons' signal-caller made the switch following a visit from newly named Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson and recruiting coordinator Charles Kelly.

Prep basketball: Gainesville coach to retire

After a head-coaching career that spanned 33 years, six at North Hall High and 27 at Gainesville High, Red Elephants boys basketball coach Jerry Davis is calling it a career.

Davis will retire at the end of the 2007-2008 season.

Northside uses momentum

Northside-Warner Robins quarterback Marques Ivory showed last weekend how not to count out a team, after they fell behind by three touchdowns with just the second half ahead.

Ivory, who was still recovering from a broken left leg, didn't play in the first half in the semifinals against undefeated Tucker, leading 28-7 at halftime.

BUFORD - After a few steps into Buford's fieldhouse, it is close to impossible to avoid the Wolves' rich history.

A large trophy case on the left wall displays myriad trophies, ranging from region championships to state titles. The rest of the walls in the first few hallways are covered by pictures honoring past state champions and undefeated seasons.
