Chestatee lifters win at state

The Chestatee High Olympic Style weightlifting boys and girls teams defended their state titles Saturday. Chestatee's Megan Poole won the 56-kilogram class and was named best lifter. War Eagles lifter Robby Poole won the 77-kilogram boys class and was named best lifter for the boys.

Eagles Landing won't forfeit baseball series against Commerce

The games will go on for Eagles Landing Christian Academy.

After a confirmed case of swine flu forced the private school in Henry County to close its doors, it seemed that the baseball and track teams might have to withdraw from region and state playoff events. But the Georgia High Schools Association confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the schools' athletes will be allowed to compete.

The North Hall boys golf team enters today's Class AAA state meet at the Waynesboro Country Club with a head of steam, including top ranking in the state coaches poll and recent win at the Region 7-AAA meet. The Trojans are part of the 16-team field at the par-72, 6,834-yard course, just south of Augusta. Westminster is the defending state champion.
