Clausen: Gainesville still No. 1 in power rankings

At the end of Week 6, Hall County's football players have created the following power ratings. As the season goes on, I take into consideration the following criteria: 1) head to head competitions; 2) win/loss record; 3) ratio of points scored vs. points allowed; 4) opponents win/loss percentage.

If Gainesville High softball coach Jeremy Kemp was looking for a nickname to fit his team, the Cardiac Kids would do just fine. The Lady Red Elephants strung together seven runs in the bottom of the seventh en route to an 11-10 win against Gilmer in Region 7-AAA's tournament play-in game on Monday at the Lanier Point Softball Complex.

Jefferson has the inside track to the Region 8-AA title after its 47-20 win against Riverside Military (4-2, 3-2) on Friday night in Jefferson. The Dragons are looking for the first region title for the school since 1977. It's been noted that Jefferson (6-0, 5-0) is dangerous on offense, hard-hitting on defense, and takes advantage of any opportunity it's given.
