Prep football: Region 8-AAAA preview

In Region 8-AAAA, the subregion system which led to an undefeated team taking a No. 2 seed into the AAAA playoffs has been scrapped for 2008. But that means there's no room for non-region warm-up games. This year, every game counts in this 11-team region.

High school scoreboard: Aug. 14

Kayla Street pitched a complete game with only a single earned run allowed for Gainesville in a 9-5 win against West Hall on Thursday in Gainesville. Abby Smallwood, Street, Courtney Presnell, Madison Oliver, Whitney Ledford and Tyra Newton each added a hit and run scored for the Lady Red Elephants, who move to 5-1 on the season.
