The opening possession of Gainesville's Region 7-AAA tournament semifinal game against Flowery Branch ended with a George Manomano steal, the first of 12 for Gainesville, and a Blake Sims layup on the other end.
WATKINSVILLE – The Jefferson Lady Dragons saw their season come to an end Wednesday night in the first round of the Region 8-AA tournament with a 46-38 loss to Union County at North Oconee High School.

The very best of Georgia's wrestlers will come together one last time over the next three days.
Day one of the 2008-09 GHSA Traditional Wrestling Tournament, the final wrestling of the season, begins at 5:30 p.m. today at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. It continues at 8 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
OAKWOOD – One scoring spurt was the difference in West Forsyth's 58-48 win against Chestatee in the first round of the Region 7-AAA tournament Tuesday at West Hall.A Lamar Brooks 3-pointer with four-minutes, 35 seconds remaining in the third quarter gave the War Eagles a 26-25 lead, their first of the game.
Two area coaches were named Coach of the Year in the Region 8-A All-Region team released Tuesday. Lakeview Academy's Seth Vining was honored as boys Coach of the Year while Commerce's Eddie McCurley was recognized as Girls Coach of the Year.
DAHLONEGA - Blessed Trinity proved to be a little too much for a young Lumpkin County team to handle Tuesday night at the Burial Grounds. The previously unbeaten Lady Indians fell 4-0 to the Lady Titans in the GHSA Class AAA girls soccer semifinals.

Patience isn't one of Richie Castruita's strong suits. Luckily for West Hall, the junior timed his goal-scoring runs to perfection on two separate occasions to help lead the Spartans (11-1-2) to their second straight appearance in the state semifinals.
JONESBORO - The Buford girls tennis team was unable to cap off their historic season with a championship. The Lady Wolves ended up losing out to Woodward Academy 3-0 on a hot Saturday afternoon in the GHSA class AAAA state championship at the Clayton International Park Tennis Center.
