Red Elephants remain top team in power rankings

At the end of week 5 the Hall County football players have created the following power ratings. As the season goes on I take into consideration the following criteria: Head-to-head competitions, record, ratio of points scored vs. points allowed and opponents win/loss percentage. This week we rated the teams on the ratio of points scored against points allowed.

Jackson County suffers first region loss

JEFFERSON -- Every young football team in a new region has to start somewhere, and for Jackson County, it started with a 34-6 loss to Morgan County on Friday in Jefferson.

The loss is the Panthers' first in Region 8-AAA game after moving down from Class AAAA this season.

North Hall rides scoring burst past Creekview, 34-24

For 12 minutes on Friday night, North Hall's offense resembled the high-powered running game that took the Trojans to the Class AAA state semifinals in 2007. It only took the Trojans (2-2, 1-0 Region 7A-AAA) four plays to score three touchdowns in the second quarter en route to a 34-24 win against Creekview (0-4, 0-1) at The Brickyard.

The win helped sooth the sore feelings from losing back-to-back games leading into the subregion opener against the Grizzlies. More importantly, it puts North Hall right at the top of the pack in Region 7A-AAA heading into next Friday's matchup ...
