I couldn't help but find myself in a bit of a lull for the opening of the high school football season last Friday night. Not to take anything away from the games that were played in the area, but there really weren't any compelling matchups, with the exception of Jefferson against Commerce.
The North Hall High boys cross country team took first place at the Northeast Georgia Championships on Saturday at Athens Christian. Trojans runner Ty McCormack ran a 16-minute, 18 second time to place first overall, as well as set a new meet record.
JEFFERSON - Anytime a season opens with a rivalry game it is expected for nerves to be a factor. But for Jefferson coach T. McFerrin his first foray back on the sideline in five years had him admittedly "sick to his stomach," in the week leading up to the River Rivalry with Commerce.
