CUMMING - Thanks to a fourth quarter in which Gainesville held Chestatee to only five points, the Class AAA No. 7-ranked Lady Red Elephants were able to beat Chestatee 56-39 and secure a spot in the Class AAA state playoffs and a matchup with the winner of today's Lumpkin County-Gilmer game in the region tournament semifinals.
BOGART- On Wednesday afternoon, the Lady Lions (12-10), the No. 2 seed from the North subregion, beat the third seed from the South subregion Athens Christian Academy (10-12) 42-27 in the quarterfinals of the Region 8-A tournament at Prince Avenue Christian to capture a spot in the state tourney.
