High school scoreboard: North Hall golfers make history

Class AAA's top-ranked North Hall High boys golf team broke 300 in 18 holes for the first time in school history, shooting a 298 to defeat ninth-ranked Lumpkin County's 302 on Wednesday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.

Mountains Cup finals arranged

The final rounds of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup will be played Friday at Chestatee High School and Allen Creek Soccer Complex. The games were originally scheduled for last Friday, but were delayed due to rain. Admission to the games is $5 at each venue. The boys' third-place game between Chestatee and Riverside Military begins at 6 p.m., followed by the championship game between West Hall and Johnson at 8 p.m. Both games are at Chestatee.

This week: Shootout kicks off busy week

The high school sports docket is going to be a busy one coming off a week that was dominated by cancellations due to poor weather. Baseball, soccer and golf all have headliner games and events scheduled for this week.

The fifth-annual Big Red Shootout golf tournament is today at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. This boys tournament is a premier high school golf event with a pool including many of Hall County's schools along with ranked metro Atlanta schools, including five schools ranked in Class AAA's coaches poll. Flowery Branch High's baseball team is one of the biggest surprises in Region 7-AAA this season.
