FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch's offense puts up numbers on the ground that would earn the respect of an old school wing-T coach. The Falcons (11-2) have two bruising running backs and a shifty junior quarterback, Connor Shaw, that is adept at tucking it in and running with the football.

Sarah Rhodes led the Lady Chargers (9-4) with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals. Hannah Parker and Ashley Valentine each scored nine points for North Georgia Christian. Parker also had a team-high eight rebounds.
Since 2000, Buford is a perfect 6-0 in semifinal games played at the Georgia Dome, and while the location for this year's semifinal matchup is different, the top-ranked Wolves hope to have the same success.

From staff reports
The 2008 season has already been a roller coaster of sorts for Flowery Branch - from the low of the opening night loss at Stephens County, to the high of the eight-game winning streak that followed, to the momentary dip that was the loss to Gainesville in the final week of the regular season. Now, after returning to Stephens County to start a new winning streak, the Falcons are peaking just in time for trip to LaGrange. Coach Lee Shaw, who has guided the program since its 0-10 beginning in 2002, spoke with Times sports editor Brent Holloway on Tuesday about ...
Flowery Branch's Jake Shewbert added to his strong performance at the Georgia Olympics, earning a fourth-place spot in the 3200 race with a time of 9 minutes, 44.1 seconds at Jefferson Memorial. Joining him in the race for the Falcons, Grant O'Callaghan was ninth (9:53.29).
DAHLONEGA - Blessed Trinity proved to be a little too much for a young Lumpkin County team to handle Tuesday night at the Burial Grounds. The previously unbeaten Lady Indians fell 4-0 to the Lady Titans in the GHSA Class AAA girls soccer semifinals.
