FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch senior defensive end Izaan Cross resisted the temptation of letting the lure of college recruiting get in the way of his final season of high school football. It seems to have panned out pretty well for Cross, who holds scholarship offers from some of the biggest Division I schools in the country, and who was a driving force for the Falcons' run to the state title game.

High School Scoreboard: Feb. 21

With a 10-point lead after one quarter of play, the Dawson County girls cruised to a 71-40 win in the second round of the Class AAA state tournament on Saturday in Dawsonville. With the win, the top-ranked Lady Tigers (29-0) advance to the state quarterfinals to face Laney this week. Game time and location will be determined by a coin flip.
