With the momentum of a two-game winning streak behind them, and a third consecutive playoff appearance within reach, the War Eagles of Chestatee feel that there is only one team that can beat them.

Lady Indians begin quest for state title

DAHLONEGA - Lumpkin County High softball coach Lori Hall stacked the deck to get to this point. So the fact that the Lady Indians (17-13-1) enter this weekend's Class AAA North Sectionals as the No. 1 seed isn't a surprise to either their second-year coach or players.

The Lady Indians played a tough regular season schedule, seeing top competition, with tournament appearances at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Madison County. And while Lumpkin County didn't finish first against top-ranked competition from all classifications, it was a pulse-check for the Region 7-AAA schedule and beyond.

Stallion stampede: Jubilee Christian vies for state, national title

GAINESVILLE - Just off Bradford Street, next to Harmony Street Baptist Church, in a metal building that houses Jubilee Christian Academy's classrooms, administrative offices and gym, Randy Roys is a busy man.

The school's principal - who also serves as a math teacher, coach and part-time custodian - is getting ready for the Georgia Christian Athletic Association Class A volleyball tournament, that begins today at Jubilee Christian.
