Football: Trojans' young guns make big impact

Thomas Sprague had to make a split-second decision. And there was no room for error.

Against Perry last week in the Class AAA state quarterfinals, the North Hall sophomore linebacker was in the end zone, in coverage, when the ball came right in his direction. His first reaction was he wasn't in position for the interception, so he went with his next best option to bat the ball down and prevent a touchdown. It proved to be a very wise decision.

Tersoo Uhaa had no doubt the day would come. The senior at Riverside Military Academy has stated that a career in the NFL is his ultimate athletic goal. Wednesday, after a standout prep career, he committed to make the next step.

BUFORD - Buford boys basketball coach Milt Travis, who is in the midst of his sixth year at the helm of the Wolves program, is used to this time of year.

He coaches, after all, at a school with a football team that is a perennial powerhouse in the state, meaning that for the first month to month and a half of every season he is without some of his top players.

Gruhn named to GACA Hall of Fame

For 29 years he stood at the helm of the Gainesville High football program and guided it to a 245-104-5 record which included nine trips to the state quarterfinals, 11 state semifinals appearances and four state finals appearances.

Wright signs with Shorter

North Hall baseball player Josh Wright recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Shorter College of the Nationall Association of Intercollegiate Athletics division. Wright was named to the 2007 Times All-Area team and was awarded the Jody Davis Team Award for the Trojans. Four days to the Dome: Hard-hitting Hulsey finds home on special teams

Chase Hulsey's eyes widen just thinking about playing in the Georgia Dome on Saturday afternoon. This North Hall senior gets goose bumps visualizing running out of the tunnel onto the field for the AAA semifinal against Cairo.

There will be a sea of green there to support the Trojans. But first and foremost for Hulsey it's a business trip to win a football game.
