From across the field, North Hall soccer player Tess Patton can be heard yelling, "through," "play it up," "I'm ready" or, as was the case in a practice scrimmage Monday afternoon at North Hall Middle School, "I know! I (stink)!"
FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch brought an end to its search for a boys basketball coach Sunday when Duke Mullis was tabbed to take over with the Falcons.
Mullis, who has a career record of 317-150, has coached at Brentwood High School, Middle Georgia College, Chattahoochee High School and most recently served as the head coach of West Forsyth last season.
North Hall's Josh Wright has, what he likes to refer to as, a bulldog mentality on the mound. It's his inner confidence that the opposition isn't going to be able to score when the ball is in his hand.
Flowery Branch senior Patrick Henry went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, two doubles and four RBIs in a 10-0 win against West Hall on Friday night in Oakwood. With the win, the Falcons (18-2, 14-2 Region 7-AAA) extended their current win streak to 10 games dating back to a loss at Gilmer on March 24.

From staff reports
Gainesville junior Spencer Ralston fired a blistering second-round 66, and the Red Elephants rallied to beat Marist by one shot at The Invite on Saturday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville. Over 36 holes, Gainesville finished at 573, Marist 574 and Lee Scott Academy placed third 582.
Caleb Whitenton's home run in Game 1 was just the energy boost seventh-ranked Gainesville needed Friday as it completed a two-game sweep of Cambridge in the opening round of the Class AAAAA state tournament at Ivey-Watson Field in Gainesville.
Tim Gale hasn't yet figured out who will make up his starting 11 as West Hall progresses further through the state playoffs. As long as the Spartans keep pulling out wins, however, he'll have a while to tinker with his lineup.
Senior striker Leo Toledo scored eight goals as the fourth-ranked Vikings defeated Jefferson 11-3 in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs. Carlos Castrejon, Ruben Ramirez and Oskar Mejia also scored to lead East Hall into the second round, where the team will travel to Jackson High School on Wednesday.
JEFFERSON - Jefferson Dragons baseball head coach Tommy Knight called hitting "contagious," and nothing exemplified that statement more than the third inning of Game 2 against the Lumpkin County Indians in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs.
JEFFERSON – With time expiring, and down 4-3, the West Hall Lady Spartans' soccer team needed a prayer to make it to extra time against the Jefferson Lady Dragons. That prayer was answered off the foot of Izabel Salgado.
