Jeremy Kemp named new baseball coach at GHS

The search for Wayne Vickery's replacement as baseball coach didn't even have to leave the campus of Gainesville High.

In what Vickery called the worst-kept secret in Hall County, Gainesville High announced on Friday that Vickery's assistant coach, Jeremy Kemp, will be the new head coach of the Red Elephants.

Lloyd tied for lead atop national junior golf field

BRASELTON - Jimmy Lloyd was all smiles as he exited the 18th green Sunday.

Lloyd, one of the 96 competitors from across the country in the Medicus Preseason Junior event at the Chateau Elan Golf Club, finished the opening round with an even par 71, putting him in a first-place tie with Matthew Cahill from Boca Raton, Fla. In the girls division, Kendall Wright of Suwanee put together a 4-under par 67 to grab the early lead.
