At the end of Week 7 the Hall County football players have created the following power ratings. As the season goes on I take into consideration the following criteria: 1) head to head competitions; 2) win/loss record; 3) ratio of points scored vs. points allowed; 4) opponents win/loss percentage. For this week we rated the teams on the ratio of points scored against points allowed.

Lumpkin County High grinded out a 20-play, 80-yard touchdown drive in the second half en route to a 17-0 win over Pickens on Friday night in Jasper. Daniel Abercrombie capped the drive with a touchdown run from the 7 for the Indians (3-3, 2-1 Region 7A-AAA).

Lakeview Academy's Hanna Grogan already has many of the skills for playing at the college level, according to her coach John Carrick, even though she's only a sophomore. Carrick would know as well as anyone, having coached at Georgia College for 27 years, before retiring and coming to Lakeview five years ago.

Gainesville shows balance in win at North Hall

The way Gainesville's boys spread the wealth scoring points, it made for an easy win at North Hall on Saturday. Junior D'Marcus Simonds had a typical big night scoring, junior center Tyler Scott was key inside with hitting baskets and changing the direction of Trojans shots, and K.J. Buffen scored a number of early baskets for the Red Elephants.
