Your Views: Ga. now must focus on valid road projects

The voters of Georgia should be commended for the overwhelming vote against the transportation sales tax Tuesday. This would have been a gigantic tax increase on all Georgians and would do little to alleviate traffic problems and congestion in the metro area. It was a bipartisan effort of strange bedfellows: conservatives, liberals, blacks, whites, Democrats and Republicans.

Your Views: Politicians, hear our voices loudly from Tuesday’s primary

Wow, what a wake-up call Tuesday. You see politicians, we the people do not believe your empty promises of the past and we certainly will not believe your full-of-bologna promises for your re-election.

Your Views: Election offers a choice between 2 clear ideologies

The November presidential election is the most important in the nation's history. It will be a contest between two ideologies, not two traditional political parties. At stake is whether you want to keep our free constitutional form of government or become a social welfare state.

Your Views: President was wrong to leak classified info on SEAL raid

Referring to the July 25 article about leaking classified information, I am in complete agreement with Mitt Romney. Furthermore, it was hard to believe when I saw the film which very closely (I presume) followed the exploits and duties carried out by SEAL Team Six. I spent 20 plus years in the Army and all but basic training required a top secret clearance and some even higher. In that time we could not even overfly (as a passenger) any Soviet country.

Your Views: Column is right; free speech doesn’t warrant attacks

I want to thank Mitch Clarke for his column in Sunday's paper about free speech. I agree wholeheartedly that anyone should be able to voice his opinion without being attacked by media, politicians and celebrities.

Your Views: GOP should fight harder to beat Obama

I won't say that things in our nation couldn't be worse because they could be, and God forbid, will be, if we as a free people don't wake up from this comatose condition we now find ourselves in.

Your Views: Would gambling revenue add to or replace school funding?

In light of the proposed expansion of gambling here in Georgia, I would like to know exactly what will be done with the funds generated. Will it be used to replace funds currently allocated from the state budget for education, therefore allowing those funds to be used elsewhere?

Your Views: Who says Hall County taxes didn’t go up?

I am really confused. Several Hall County commissioners talk about not raising taxes and a flat tax rate over the last eight years.

Your Views: Blame gun makers, NRA for making ammo available

The Colorado movie kids' accused killer had purchased the weapons legally at three area gun stores in the last 60 days and bought 6,000 rounds of ammunition online, including a 100-round drum magazine for an assault rifle. Thank goodness buying a 100-round magazine is legal and raises no flags. Nice work writing law by the NRA and the gun manufacturers.

Your Views: More laws can’t prevent violent acts from evil hearts

Our beloved nation once more must take communion from the bread of bitterness and the tea of sorrow. Another name is engraved upon the roll call of evil as Aurora is added to Tucson, Fort Hood, Virginia Tech and Columbine.

Your Views: Sales tax should aim at those who use roads most

We do not need more roads; we need fewer cars.

Your Views: T-SPLOST vote is a matter of trust

The merits of the additional sales tax are understood because the need for improvements with roads and transportation are easy to see and understand. Can we believe this is the fix?
