Your Views: It’s time to stop pointing fingers, unite for our nation

Since the Nov. 6 election, I've heard lots of conservatives throwing tantrums and behaving like spoiled children.

Your Views: Obama voters, don’t cry when your jobs go overseas

Four more years of the same old, same old, except you will see rising taxes, gas prices, food prices and consumer goods prices. There is no sense in stressing out over this debacle since the majority must like socialism and a welfare state like the Soviet Union.

Your Views: With election over, leaders must unite for common good

President Barack Obama was re-elected and would hope that our national, state and local elected leaders would accept this historic fact as a second opportunity to help bring our country together and work for the common good of all of the American people.

Your Views: Better nutrition for children now means a healthier military later

As we remember the many sacrifices of our military this Veterans Day, we should also consider the upcoming generation and what our nation can do to help ensure our long-term national security.

Your Views: Americans, it's time to unite and ‘be the people’ again

Recently, I was at the National Archives and saw the hand-printed documents our country was founded upon. I cannot describe to you the emotion, the sense of honor and respect, the call to duty that seeing those frail papers firsthand produces in each and every heart.

Your Views: Free markets don’t provide best health care

While the middle-class economy, Social Security, the environment and various other justice issues are of grave concern, the primary issue for me in this election was health care.

Your Views: Fire insurance cost rises without new Hall station

I received a letter from my insurance company today; they are canceling my homeowners policy, and before you jump to conclusions, I pay my premiums on time. No, this has to do with a fire rating in my area.

Your Views: Ceremony honoring Korean War vets was touching, appreciated

This is for the families of fallen heros of the Korean War and from Hall County: The Korean Vets Memorial that was unveiled Saturday at Rock Creek Veterans Park was a very touching program. The Korean Veterans of Georgia are to be commended for their dedicated and hard work and for their vision in remembrance.

Your Views: Charter school option should stay at local level

We must be clear that a no vote on constitutional amendment No. 1 regarding charter schools is not a vote against charter schools. It's a vote in support of the ability of our locally elected and accountable Hall County school officials to make those local public charter school decisions. Public charter schools are already in existence in Hall County and are an important offering to our community.

Your Views: A ‘thank you’ from family of honored Korean War veteran

I would like to thank everyone who put their time and effort into erecting the Korean War Memorial, which is slated to be dedicated on Saturday. My uncle, Howard Donald O'Kelley, is one of the men to be honored. He was killed on May 19, 1951. He was only 20 years old at the time. I never knew him, but he is and always will be remembered by our family.

Your Views: Obama did nothing over Libyan attacks, turns his back on God

We are now only a couple of weeks away from a presidential election that I firmly believe will define whether we continue to live our lives as a free people or cease to enjoy the blessings of an almighty God that bestowed upon America the rights we've had since our forefathers established our republic.

Your Views: Shackling suspects in court implies guilt

Now I know why they say justice is blind. They see everyone as guilty until they can prove themselves innocent. People are brought into court shackled with two armed policemen with guns to watch them. That way everyone sees that person as guilty from the start.

Your Views: Clean Power Plan would help create a healthier environment

I live in a small mountain community in Northeast Georgia and I have been a physician for 43 years. It has become obvious to me that if we do not provide a healthy environment on our earth, future generations will suffer both economically and socially, and from severe medical problems.

Your Views: Protecting state’s forests should be top priority beyond Earth Day

It is easy to take forests in Georgia for granted. They are often viewed as natural gifts akin to the sun and the clouds, timeless and steadfast. But Georgia's forests have not been here forever, and they don't take care of themselves. As we pause on Earth Day to appreciate our environment, let's reflect on the many benefits provided by working forests, and resolve to confront the public policy threat they face.
