North Georgia opens up College World Series with 9-4 win

SALEM, Va. - North Georgia College & State University's softball team faced an early 3-0 deficit on Thursday evening against 11th-ranked Indiana (Pa.), but the Saints rallied with nine unanswered runs to storm back and take a 9-4 victory on the opening day of the Division II World Series at the Salem Sports complex in Salem, Va.

Brenau softball places 3 players on Louisville Slugger All-Region squad

Brenau University softball players Tiffany Schandera, Morgan Smith and Jenny Shepherd have been named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger All-Region team, announced Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Anna Maness was named to the second team for the Golden Tigers.

Piedmont baseball, Brenau tennis advance in postseason

Kevin Caldwell threw eight strong innings, and the Piedmont College baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning en rout to defeating Salisbury University 10-1 in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA South Regional Tournament on Wednesday. The win was only the second NCAA postseason victory in school history for the third-seeded Lions (31-13).

North Georgia softball team tops Georgia College 2-0, advances to D-II College World Series

University of North Georgia junior ace Courtney Poole tossed a three-hit shutout and sophomore catcher Jessica Finch provided the game-winning two-run single in the first inning to help beat No. 8 Georgia College, 2-0 in the Division II Southeast Super Regional on Saturday in Dahlonega. With the win, the Nighthawks (49-7) advance to its fourth Division II College World Series.
