Chandler awarded postgraduate scholarship

Rhodes College pitcher and West Hall High alum Hunter Chandler has been awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The Capital One All-American posted a 5-2 record with a 1.48 ERA, while walking only 13 batters during the 2011 season. Chandler was named to the SCAC All-Tournament team for his performance in a 21-inning win over Olgethorpe University. He pitched 10 2/3 innings in relief and only allowed 1 earned run in the longest game in Division III history.

North Georgia wins Staff of the Year

For the third consecutive year the North Georgia Softball coaching staff has been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Staff of the Year. The Saints were led by head coach Mike Davenport who was named Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year for the third straight year. North Georgia finished the year with a school record 53 wins and have been ranked in the nation's top five for an unprecedented 30 consecutive weeks.
