North Georgia women's soccer looking to capture conference title

The 11th-ranked North Georgia College & State University women's soccer team will play the biggest game in program history this weekend when they host 18th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the Peach Belt Conference regular season championship on the line.

The Piedmont College volleyball team got a record-breaking performance from Paige Eslinger Tuesday to rally for a 3-1 (11-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23) victory at in-state foe Brenau University. Eslinger posted 42 digs in the match, a NCAA-era program record, with the 22nd dig of her night also representing the 1,000th of her Lady Lion career.

The Piedmont College women's soccer team had little trouble defeating in-state foe Oglethorpe University Wednesday by a final score of 6-0, their fifth shutout victory in six games. The Lady Lions got two first half goals before four more scores in the second half to notch their sixth straight win to open the season, the best start by a Piedmont women's soccer team in the NCAA era beginning with the 2003 season.

University of North Georgia secures Division II softball national championship

OKLAHOMA CITY - The University of North Georgia softball team used timely hitting, combined with a strong performance in the circle by NFCA National Pitcher of the Year Courtney Poole, to win the school's first-ever national championship with a 5-0 victory over Dixie State on Monday in the NCAA Division II softball national title game.

North Georgia softball team tops Georgia College 2-0, advances to D-II College World Series

University of North Georgia junior ace Courtney Poole tossed a three-hit shutout and sophomore catcher Jessica Finch provided the game-winning two-run single in the first inning to help beat No. 8 Georgia College, 2-0 in the Division II Southeast Super Regional on Saturday in Dahlonega. With the win, the Nighthawks (49-7) advance to its fourth Division II College World Series.
