The Brenau University volleyball team lost to Shorter University 25-18, 25-16, 25-17 on Friday in Gainesville. Melissa Thornton led the Golden Tigers (1-14, 0-2 Southern States Athletic Conference) with nine digs and seven kills. Brenau's Alexis Arthur had eight digs and seven killls, while Kerry Abernathy added eight digs to go with 10 assists.

The Brenau University soccer team lost to the Savannah College of Art & Design, 1-0, on Saturday in the SCAD Invitational in Hardeeville, S.C. The game's only goal was scored in the 61st minute. The Golden Tigers (1-4) were led by goalkeeper Lisa Lesnick and midfielder Lauren Hagin on defense.

University of North Georgia secures Division II softball national championship

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The University of North Georgia softball team used timely hitting, combined with an excellent performance in the circle by NFCA National Pitcher of the Year Courtney Poole, to win the school's first-ever national championship with a 5-0 victory over Dixie State on Monday in the NCAA Division II softball national title game.

North Georgia softball team tops Georgia College 2-0, advances to D-II College World Series

University of North Georgia junior ace Courtney Poole tossed a three-hit shutout and sophomore catcher Jessica Finch provided the game-winning two-run single in the first inning to help beat No. 8 Georgia College, 2-0 in the Division II Southeast Super Regional on Saturday in Dahlonega. With the win, the Nighthawks (49-7) advance to its fourth Division II College World Series.
