House, K-4 team finish 6th in B Final

RACICE, Czech Republic - Krisztina Zur (Costa Mesa, Calif.) claimed the gold medal for Team USA in the Women's K-1 1000m. Zur finished in 3:57.901, a quarter of a second ahead of the runner-up, Natalya Sergeyeva of Kazakhstan. National Team Coach Guy Wilding described Zur's performance as "all class." Also competing in the 1000m A Final, Ariel Farrar-Wellman (Bethesda, Md.) placed ninth.

The DPG Golf Group played matches at Chicopee Woods Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week. On Monday, Denis Jordan won with a (+9), and Norm Phillips placed second (+6). Jerry Pearson won on Wednesday (+5) and Dave Jetter finished second (+4). Then on Friday, Phillips won with a (+2), and Jetter was second at even.

Ann Hollobaugh took first place Tuesday as the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a Par-3/Par-5 contest at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Carolyn Palmer and Ann White tied for second, with Sue Cronmiller placing fourth. Closest to the pin winners were White on No. 3 and Palmer on No. 17.
