Local golf: Wednesday Dogfight group played at Chicopee Woods

Greg Lee, Don Schrum and Keith Fitzgerald finished in first place during the Wednesday Dogfight event at the Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Roger Stapp, Terry Clegg and Vince Jonte came in second, and the teams of Jim Arendt, Bob Arendt and Russ Rainwater and Joe Roberts, Len Kaper and Henry Komoto both tied for third.

This Week: Petit Le Mans ready to run at Road Atlanta on Saturday

Some of the best sports car team in North America and Europe will be part of the Petit Le Mans endurance race at on Saturday at Road Atlanta in Braselton. The 15th annual running of one of the American Le Mans Series' biggest events meshes endurance and speed as drivers participate in the 1,000 mile/10-hour race in the P1, P2 and GT classifications at the track in South Hall.

Jim Foote won the Senior Championship at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville with a 36-hole score of 142. Foote put together rounds of 70 and 72 to win by three strokes over Keith Morris and Walter Hope.

Local golf: CMGA plays scramble at Chattahoochee

The Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played its quarterly scramble last week at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. First place went to the team of Louis Boohaker, Bud Clegg, Carlyle Cox and Gene Weschler. Wayne Nelson, Nick Grillo, Stu Virgin and Tom Cleveland came in second, and Claude Schneider, Don Sorrell, Bob Henderson and Dick Bachman were third. Closest to the pin winners were Clegg (No. 3), Denny Momper (No. 5), Weschler (No. 12) and Ben Brooks (No. 17).
