Gainesville High's Sara Hayes won the state title in the pentathlon for the Lanier Running Club during the state Junior Olympic Championships last weekend in Fayetteville. The Lanier Running Club placed 13 athletes in the Top 5 and qualified for the region competition.
Dannie Dingess and Greg Smith won the first flight of the Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club's member-member championships and then won in a shootout against the winners of the other three flights to emerge as the overall champion Monday in Flowery Branch.
