Jacob Wheeler of Indianapolis, Ind. retained his lead on Friday at the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Lanier, weighing a five-bass limit for 11 pounds, 12 ounces for the day, less than the massive haul of 21 pounds, 15 ounces from Thursday, but enough to keep him in the lead in the four-day event.

DULUTH - Before the crowd at the Gwinnett Arena heard the total of Jacob Wheeler's five best bass on Thursday, he knew it was something special after a great day fishing on Lake Lanier. As the fish flopped in the bag on the scale, Wheeler anticipated the announcer standing by his side on stage to call the weight on the first day of the Forrest Wood Cup.

Gainesville golfer Ralston finishes 3rd at Florida tourney

Gainesville freshman Spencer Ralston shot a final round 4-under par 68 on Thursday to finish in a tie for third place in the American Junior Golf Association's Junior All-Star tournament at the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club in Ocala, FL. Ralston had a three day total of 1-under par 215 and finished two shots behind winner Ben Albin, who completed the 54 hole Championship with a score of 3-under par 213.
