West Hall Middle School sixth-grader Mariah McNeill last week won the Alabama State Championship in her chosen sport of AMA Motocross. This adds to the seven other regional and state championships Mariah has won in 2007.

Stephanie Hamilton, age 7, took home first place in free form and second place in traditional form in the 10-and-younger division Oct. 20 at the Tae Kwon Do Xtreme Form Competition in Birmingham, Ala. Stephanie is the daughter of William Hamilton of Gainesville and Tabitha Sunderberg of Marietta.
Ryan Free of Gainesville recently qualified for the INT Water Sports League US Championships by winning the Georgia state championship in WB Men's Intermediate at Lake Lanier Islands. While competing at the INT League US Championships in Zachary, La., he was bumped to the advanced division where he finished in fifth place and earned the Exceptional Performance Award.
The Chestatee 12-year-old junior War Eagles football team recently won the Regional Midget South NGYFA Championship.
The West Hall Jr. Spartan Johnston 9-and-10-year-old football team won the 2007 Hall County Parks and Leisure Football Championship on Thursday night by defeating Flowery Branch Falcons Colee team 7-6. The Jr. Spartans finished the season undefeated at 10-0.
Gainesville Parks and Recreation sponsored a Pee Wee Flag Football League for 4-and-5-year olds that included a gray team and green team, bot pictured at left.
