Your Views: Family grateful for Gainesville’s support, love for LeeAnn Noble

POSTED: May 24, 2014 1:00 a.m.

Joe and I wanted to thank the Gainesville community for their unending support to our daughter, LeeAnn Noble, and us over the last five months. There were so many areas of support right from the beginning of LeeAnn’s recent medical journey and eventual death.

Gainesville’s Prayer Vigil at The Rock when LeeAnn was first hospitalized provided us comfort in a moment of uncertainty. After that, there were continued prayers, cards, hospital visits, touching scrapbooks, fundraisers to help us with medical expenses, food delivery including yummy Colored Egg baked goods to the hospital and then to our home after her death, flowers at her services and many Make-A-Wish donations in her memory.

Gainesville Schools raised and donated money in her name to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where LeeAnn was treated since her heart transplant. Additionally, Clay MacDonald organized Battling for Birdies, a golf fundraiser for LeeAnn and another Gainesville golfer struggling with cancer. Even after her death, the Student Council Senior Workhorse Award was named in her honor. We were able to see the first recipient honored with the award, and seeing that meant the world to us.

There are just no words adequate enough to thank the Gainesville community for this support. While we were not Gainesville natives, Gainesville quickly became home to us when we first moved here. Some of LeeAnn’s most treasured times were spent in Gainesville, and to know that her story has touched so many people brings us more pride than any parent could hope to feel in a lifetime.

LeeAnn certainly lived each day of her life to the fullest because she had experienced the uncertainty of life early on, and in her death she has taught us to do the same. Thank you for embracing our family during this difficult time and touching our hearts forever. We so appreciate each one of you and feel blessed by your friendship.
