North Hall students sponsor food drive for Meals on Wheels

POSTED: May 26, 2014 1:00 a.m.

For their service project, North Hall International Baccalaureate juniors selected Meals on Wheels to complete their creativity, action and service hours.

Creativity, action, service involves students doing a range of activities in conjunction with their academic studies through the Diploma Programme. The three strands of CAS enhance students’ personal and interpersonal development through experiential learning and enable journeys of self-discovery.

During March, students organized a canned food drive as well as a pet food drive.

“There was no greater reward than seeing all of the cans and pet food North Hall collected, knowing many older people and dogs and cats would be fed,” Samantha Diosdado said. “After volunteering for a day with other Meals on Wheels volunteers, I discovered just how important these meals are, not just for the health of the receivers, but for their happiness, the joy and gratitude they feel for these meals and for our help. It was an honor to be part of helping Meals on Wheels and our community.”
