Cast off on a catamaran and cruise the waters of Lake Lanier this weekend with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

The nonprofit agency is hosting a Memorial Day weekend tour on Chota Princess II. The 40-foot catamaran will set sail at 10 a.m. and return at 12:30 p.m. at Aqualand Marina, 6800 Lights Ferry Road in Flowery Branch.

This is the second year of the tour, giving residents who do not have access to the lake the opportunity to relax on it and learn information from environmental experts. Passengers will learn about the lake’s history, uses and current water quality, as well as issues directly impacting Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River. Participants also will learn how to take quality water samples.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Executive Director Sally Bethea and technical programs director Jason Ulseth will lead the tour. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries and watershed.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper members receive a $5 discount for adult registration. Registration is limited to 45 people.

To register, visit or call 404-352-9828.
