POSTED: May 15, 2014 1:00 a.m.

Bikers will rev their engines and roar across Fulton County and into Forsyth County to remember a fallen motorcycle officer and raise funds for children.

The Sgt. David P. Land Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 82 is hosting its annual Shoot and Ride Poker Run on Saturday, May 17. The ride begins at Killer Creek Harley-Davidson in Roswell and ends at the FOP Lodge in Cumming.

Participants will shoot for their cards at five different locations. Stops include:

* Sharpshooters, 261 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell.

* Johns Creek Indoor Gun Range, 7790 McGinnis Ferry Road, Suwanee.

* Dawson 400 Pawn, 5711 Ga. 53 E., Dawsonville.

* The Cigar Shoppe & Appalachian Biker Gear, 4320 Settendown Village Road, Cumming.

* FOP Lodge, 248 Castleberry Industrial Drive, Cumming.

Entry fee is $15 for rider and $10 passenger. For an extra $5, meals are included. Additional poker hands cost $10 with a maximum of two.

At the lodge, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing will happen at 12:30 p.m. Beer and dinners are available for purchase.

To preregister, visit www.dplandlodge82.org. Registration is from 9-11 a.m. with staggered starts beginning at 10 a.m. The last bike will be out at 11:15 a.m.

This annual ride is in memory of Sgt. David P. Land, a motor officer for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed responding to a call on his motorcycle on March 26, 2003. The Forsyth County FOP lodge was named in his memory, too.

Proceeds benefit the children of fallen officers in the area.
