Local golf: Luna's Golf Group plays weekly event at Chattahoochee

Gene Weschler, Tommy Lowery, Tom Sexton and Johnny Nix won the Luna’s Tuesday golf group’s match last week at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Stan Davidson, Jr., Nelson Wright, Joe Roberts and Jerry Johns came in second. Richard Strickland, Frank Waggoner, Larry Miller and Ken Chahoy took third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Sexton (No. 3), Miller (No. 5) and Roberts (No. 12 and No. 17).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played a match on Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course and Wednesday and Friday matches at Chicopee Woods last week.

On Monday, Dwight Miller took first place and Dennis Jones came in second.

Jerry Shell won on Wednesday, Horace Smallwood took second place, and Steve Knowles was third.

Charley Kilby tied Bill Ingram for first place in Friday’s match, and Smallwood took third.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low gross, low net, counting par-3 and par-5 event on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Ann Hollobaugh won low gross, while Martha Shell won low net. Ann McMullan took low gross in the second flight, and Martha Nesbitt won low net.

In the third flight, Jackie Somerville won low gross, and Kirsten Coleman took low net. Closest to the pin winners were Somerville (No. 3) and Nesbitt (No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Joe Roberts, Dan Arthurs, Greg Schrum and Yoko Komoto tied Todd Austin, Ron Melin, Allen Summerville and Pat Ruiz for first place in last week’s Wednesday dogfight at Chicopee Woods.

Tommy Calhoun, Will Lowe, Henry Komoto and Johnny Gilliam came in third.

Individually, Lowe and Yoshi tied for first, and Schrum was third.

CMGA: Gene Weschler, Bill Oliver, Bob Watson and Bud Clegg won the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two best total round, net strokes game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Denny Momper, Eddie Johnson, Ken Uyl and Carlyle Cox came in second. Roy Bartlett, Jere Cochran, Dave Long and Roy Lyle tied Bob Pyne, Larry Cohan, Parviz Khosravi and Ben Brooks for third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Bob Henderson (No. 3), A.J. Kiker (No. 5), Uyl (No. 12) and Karl Goellner (No. 17).
