Search night skies for planet sights

POSTED: May 8, 2014 1:00 a.m.

For thousands of years, humans stared at the stars in wonder. North Georgia residents seeking a closer glimpse of the planets will have their chance during the Telescopes in the Park event this weekend.

The free event to mark National Astronomy Day will be from 7:45-9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Sardis Creek Park off Antioch Church Road in Gainesville.

Three telescopes will be available for use by the public to observe Jupiter, Saturn, the moon and other astronomical objects.
