Your Views: New gun law will help Georgians better protect themselves

POSTED: May 7, 2014 1:00 a.m.

I would like to applaud Gov. Nathan Deal and our state legislators for upholding our Second Amendment rights. Since February, I have had $19,000 in equipment stolen, two property crimes committed on my dad’s estate, and thanks to a really good neighbor, another equipment theft prevented.

My good friend’s house was destroyed and the man was caught by deputies. The suspect was released on bail, had a wreck, and was released again with an ankle bracelet.

Folks, we are being reduced to a Third World country and the outcry is just beginning. Instead of worrying about new patrol cars, we need to pay our first responders a decent rate. Every day they leave home, there is a chance they may not return.

Because of the situation in which I have been placed, through no fault of my own, I’m being forced to carry. Bleeding heart liberals can cry in their green tea and say this is wrong, but for those of us that are still working, we need the protection.
