High school scoreboard: May 3

The Gainesville boys golf team won it’s 10th tournament title of the season at The Invite on Saturday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The Red Elephants finished 16-under par over the two-day tournament, led by Spencer Ralston’s 63 in round two. Ralston earned low-medalist honors for the event.

Gainesville plays in the Class AAAAA state golf tournament on May 19 at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans.

Baseball

JEFFERSON FALLS IN ROUND ONE: The Dragons season came to an end with a walkoff solo home run in the eighth inning in Game 2 against Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday in Jefferson.

Jefferson fell 3-1 in Game 1 and 7-6 in Game 2.

In the first game, Micah Carpenter led the Dragons with a two hits and an RBI. Christian Hutch and Taylor Wilkes each had a hit, and Wilkes added a run scored.

Andy Nicolaus paced Jefferson in Game 2, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs on two doubles.

Max Ford was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored for the Dragons, and Hanon Price went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

With the losses, Jefferson finishes the season 21-5 and with a perfect 14-0 record in Region 8-AA.
