Six Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club members named to Team USA

Six athletes from the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club were named to Team USA, announced Friday.

Four paddlers, Tim Hornsby, Chris Miller, Stanton Collins and Ian Ross, were named to the 2014 World Cup Team and will compete in World Cup 2 in Racice, Czech Republic and World Cup 3 in Szeged, Hungary.

Hornsby won the men’s 200-meter kayak event at the National Team Trials in Oklahoma City, Miller and Collins won the men’s 100-meter K2 kayak event, and Ross won the men’s 1000-meter canoe event.

Ben Hefner was named to Tean USA after winning the under-23 division of the 200-meter men’s canoe event and will compete with Collins, Ross and Miller in the U23 World Championships.

Farran Smith earned a spot on the Junior World Championships team that will compete in Hungary later this summer.
