High school scoreboard: Falcons baseball completes first round sweep of Dunwoody

Fourth-seeded Flowery Branch upset top-seeded Dunwoody with a first-round sweep in the Class AAAAA state playoffs on Friday in Dunwoody.

The Falcons opened the series with a 7-2 win in Game 1, then secured the sweep with an 8-2 victory in Game 2.

In Game 1, Jonathan Hughes fueled the Falcons to a win with an RBI and two hits while earning the complete-game win pitching with five strikeouts.

Cameron Davis went 1 for 3 with an RBI in the first game for Flowery Branch.

Davis finished 3 for 4 in the Game 2 victory, and Justin Seabolt was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

Dylan Gibeau struck out 10 over seven innings for the Falcons and went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Flowery Branch will visit the winner of the Pope/North Paulding series next Wednesday.

WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 3, ADAIRSVILLE 2 (PKs): Hannah Dailey and Nicole Fix both scored in regulation for the Lady Warriors in a first-round Class AAA playoff victory on Friday in Adairsville.

Fourth-seeded White County beat Adairsville, the No. 1 seed from Region 5-AAA, 4-3 in penalty kicks to secure the win. Dailey, Megan Norris, Savanna Magill and Tiara Olson each scored for the Lady Warriors.

White County faces Oconee County on May 7 in Bogart.
