Your Views: Strong families are the key building blocks to a community

POSTED: May 1, 2014 1:00 a.m.

The infrastructure is very important in building our community as we need sewer, water, transportation, housing, schools, recreation, hospitals and many other things. The more I take classes and instruction, I realize how important this is, a very necessary component.

The other ingredient is the home, the most important institution in any civilization in the world. The parents are the head authority of the home. The duties of the parents toward their children: training in the humanities, courtesy, politeness, refinement of thought, manners and taste.

I am pleased to see the changes in the justice systems, and the department of our family services that can revitalize our youth and our homes and communities. Family means that we belong to someone. A dysfunctional home can often leave physical scars as well as emotional scars. All of us need to feel like we are acceptable and not rejected by our parents or others.

We may be all of God’s creatures but it is more important to be one of God’s children. There is a tremendous difference between a house and a home so let us put more importance in our homes as we build our houses in our communities, because that is the true value and strength of our communities.
