Iconic musical dances onto Buford stage

POSTED: May 1, 2014 1:00 a.m.

A father trying to maintain his family and Jewish traditions while his three daughters seek to find suitable husbands surface in the musical “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Fifth Row Center is producing the popular and iconic play for two weekends at the Buford Community Center, 2200 Buford Highway, in Buford.

Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, the story is based on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his way of life while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters — whose choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith — and the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

Performance will be at 8 p.m. May 1-3 and 8-10 with matinees at 3 p.m. May 4 and 11.

Tickets range from $8 to $25 and may be reserved either by calling 770-945-6762, or visiting fifthrowcenter.com.
