Class Notes: Schofield to speak at UNG commencement

Hall County Superintendent Will Schofield is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. May 10 in the final ceremony for the University of North Georgia’s commencement.

It will honor graduates of the Mike Cottrell College of Business and the College of Education.

The first ceremony begins at 5 p.m. May 9 on the university’s Gainesville campus. Vicki Davis, a founding member of WomenSource, will speak at the event for the Gainesville and Oconee campuses.

The next three ceremonies will take place May 10 on the Dahlonega campus, the first at 10 a.m. for its graduates and those from the Cumming campus. The commencement will honor graduates of the College of Health Sciences & Professions, with Ben Mathes, president of Rivers of the World, as guest speaker.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will honor graduates of the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Science & Mathematics and University College.

Separate commissioning ceremonies are scheduled starting at 1 p.m. May 9 for members of the Corps of Cadets entering the armed forced as second lieutenants.

Tickets are required to attend the ceremonies. Students will be supplied with tickets when they pick up their graduation packets starting May 5.

There are designated overflow areas for people without tickets to view a live stream.

Brenau, Lanier Tech schedule spring graduation ceremonies

Brenau University will host two commencement ceremonies.

One is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Friday on the front lawn for Women's College graduates.

The university’s undergraduate and graduate ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday also on the front lawn.

Lanier Technical College’s graduation is a little later, scheduled for 7 p.m. June 13 in Gainesville’s Free Chapel on McEver Road.

Hall Board of Education meeting scheduled for this evening

Hall County Board of Education members will have their regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m today at their central office, 711 Green St.

A tentative agenda can be found online at hallco.org, under the Board of Education tab.
