POSTED: April 23, 2014 12:49 a.m.

Students from Flowery Branch High School and Gainesville Middle School walked the red carpet Tuesday to collect awards for videos promoting drug-free lifestyles.

For the third year, the Drug Free Coalition of Hall County challenged students to create videos with drug-free messages. On Tuesday night, the coalition awarded first- and second-place winners at the Red Carpet Award Ceremony at the Lanier Charter Career Academy in Gainesville. There were 34 teams submitting videos, and the top 10 were shown.

The first-place high school video, “Live Above the Influence,” was created by WingLite Productions of Flowery Branch High. The winning team included Connor Fenwick, Jacob Brown and Thaddeus Johnson.

“Do You Really Want to Do Drugs,” a production of Donkey Kicking Kangaroos, by Adam Benefield and Brian Monaghan from Gainesville Middle School, received first place for middle schools.

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go: Living Above the Influence” (Delta G.E.M.S) from the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., which was fashioned by Jada Johnson and Raven Eberhardt, was the second-place video for high schools.

“Life Is ...” (Flatline Productions) from North Hall Middle School. Ansley Turpin, John Martinez, Kailee Dyer, and Olivia Watts, won second place for middle schools.

Each student in the first- and second-place video teams received a gift card.
