The Sons of the American Revolution recently awarded certificates to groups they feel show exemplary patriotism. The awards were given to Carriage Automotive Group, Milton Martin Toyota, Alta Vista Cemetery, BB&T on Jesse Jewell Parkway, Flat Creek Water Reclamation Facility and City of Gainesville Environmental Services. Roscoe McMillan, president of the Lyman Hall chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and John Beale distributed the awards.

The Radiologic Technology Program graduated its first class of students on Sept. 16. This two-year associate degree program was created through collaboration between Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Lanier Technical College in 2005, operating out of the Lanier Park Campus.

The children, parents and staff at Little House Academy in Murrayville took a trip to Goldbrook Pumpkin Farm in Lula earlier in October. The group took part in hayrides, train rides, feeding the animals and just enjoying the day. More than 120 came out for the day of fall festivities, including about 80 percent of the parents who have children at Little House.

Ted Tyler, 14, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Troop 26 and completed his service project at Health Access Initiative. His project included providing landscaping and a permanent sign at their new location. Tyler is the son of Mark and Laura Tyler and attended Westminster Christian School until recently when his family relocated to Little Rock, Ark.

Our Neighbor Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps develop opportunities for those with disabilities, has announced the addition of co-directors, Margie Sinclair and Brad Whitmire. Sinclair, an accountant, has volunteered in various duties at Hopewell and Highlands United Methodist churches and My Sister’s Place. Whitmire has worked with organizations including the Disability Resource Center in Gainesville, Hall County Schools and Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.

Army Pvt. John T. Price has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Larry and Louise Price of Gainesville and brother of West Price of Athens.

Army Reserve Pfc. Kyle J. Duncan has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Gene and Debbie Duncan of Buford. Duncan is a 2007 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Dennis K. Duncan has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of John Duncan of Sugar Hill and grandson of Vanita Bailey of Pendergrass. Duncan is a 2006 graduate of Jackson County High School in Jefferson.
