Two overnight fires in N. Hall deemed suspicious

POSTED: April 12, 2014 12:10 a.m.

Two overnight fires in North Hall County are believed to be suspicious but not connected, according to Hall County Fire Services.

The first blaze was called in by a passer-by just before 2 a.m. for the 4900 block of Price Road. The 2,000-square-foot house was for sale and vacant. The last occupants had cut the power off a week ago, said Scott Cagle, planning and preparedness chief for the fire department.

“Due to the circumstances we are saying the fire is suspicious in nature and will be continuing the fire scene investigation after daylight,” he said early Friday morning.

Another fire was called in by a homeowner just before 5 a.m. for the 5900 block of Glenn Burtz Road off Yellow Creek Road.

Cagle said the owner lived in another home behind the mobile home that burned, which he may have been using for storage.

The mobile home, which had no power to it, was fully involved in fire when firefighters arrived.

The fire department will be investigating this fire as well.

“As of right now we have no reason to believe that the fires are connected,” Cagle said.

No injuries were reported at either incident.
