Power restored after wreck causes outage Tuesday

POSTED: April 9, 2014 12:36 a.m.

Power was restored to thousands of customers who were left without electricity when a car hit a power pole just before 3 p.m. according to Jackson EMC.

“We have a serious outage going on in the Flowery Branch area at Spout Springs Road and Dove Point Lane,” spokeswoman Bonnie Jones had said Tuesday.

“There’s been an automobile accident that has broken at least two poles and has disrupted service for about half of our Spout Springs substation. That involves a little over 4,300 customers.”

Power was restored by 8 p.m., Jones said.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said one person was transported to the hospital with “minor injuries” in the crash.

Jones had said customers should expect to go a few hours in the dark.

“They’re probably going to be without power for several hours because those poles will have to be removed and the apparatus taken off, new pole set and apparatus put back on before the lines can be repowered,” she had said.
