High school scoreboard: March 27

Chestatee’s Carolina Gijon and Melanie Smith teamed up to win the last six games of their match to defeat their Johnson opponents 6-4, 7-5 and earn a 3-2 team victory on Thursday in Gainesville.

Lily Kiang won at No. 1 singles for the Lady War Eagles, and Haley King/Grace Brown won at No. 2 doubles.

For Johnson, Zdena Janderova and Karina Rivera earned singles wins.

Chestatee visits North Hall on Monday.

CHESTATEE BOYS 4, JOHNSON 1: The War Eagles swept the singles matches to earn the team win on Thursday in Gainesville.

Tyler Burgess, Reed Johnson and Hasten Haynes got singles wins for the War Eagles. Logan Gruenenfelder and Ethan Kapiloff won at No. 2 doubles for Chestatee.

Johnson avoided the sweep with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win from Man Chung and Erik Dinkel at No. 1 doubles.

The War Eagles visit North Hall on Monday.


HEBRON CHRISTIAN 15, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 7: Alex Martin hit a two-run home run to lead the Lions on Thursday in Gainesville.

Dakota Chalmers finished 2 for 3 with a home run for Lakeview Academy (2-9), and David Fadool was 3 for 5 with two singles and a double. Drake Hollander went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

The Lions play host to Athens Christian at 4:30 p.m. today.


GAINESVILLE WINS CHAMPIONS INVITATIONAL (Wednesday): The Red Elephants finished with a team score of 306 to beat Brookstone by 14 strokes and capture their second consecutive Champions Invitational title on Wednesday at the Ansley Golf Club at Settindown Creek.

Spencer Ralston carded a 74 to lead Gainesville. Grant Lasseter finished with a 76, and Lawson King and Nathan Williams each shot a 78 to round out the team score.

The Red Elephants finished the first half of the season with six tournament victories and will play in the North Georgia High School Classic on April 18-19 at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.

WEST HALL GIRLS BEAT JEFFERSON (Wednesday): Olivia Davis carded a 43 to lead the Lady Spartans to a 142-153 victory against Jefferson on Wednesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Delaney Smith shot a season-best 47 for West Hall.
