Learn to make and slay a dragon in Sautee Nacoochee

Puppet show at community center

POSTED: March 27, 2014 1:00 a.m.

Friendship and understanding are the central elements of “The Reluctant Dragon” puppet show playing at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association’s Center Theater.

This 40-minute tale centers around a princess and a dragon who meet inside the palace walls. When seen as a threat by the king, a renowned dragon slayer is instructed to fight the dragon.

Loosely based on the book by Kenneth Grahame, All Hands Production’s version of “The Reluctant Dragon” utilizes moving-mouth hand puppets and rod puppets.

The show will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the center at 283 Ga. 255 N in Sautee Nacoochee. Tickets are $5 per person.

A Simple Paper Puppets Workshop will precede the show at 12:30 p.m. in the art studio. Kids will learn to make a simple paper puppet using easy clean up materials and how to manipulate them. They will create short puppet shows using prerecorded music or improvise a story.

Cost is $5 for a child with an adult or $5 per person.

For tickets, call 706-878-3300 or visit snac.org.
