High school scoreboard: March 12

Michael Cronic’s grand slam powered West Hall to an 11-7 win against Dawson County on Wednesday.

Cameron Johnson went 3 for 5 with a home run and a pair of RBIs for the Spartans (6-1, 2-0 Region 7-AAA), and Cam Warner was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Will Simmons earned the win from the mound for West Hall.

FLOWERY BRANCH 7, NORTH OCONEE 2: Dylan Gibeau threw a complete game with eight strikeouts for Flowery Branch on Wednesday.

Stephen Skeggs finished 3 for 3 at the plate for the Falcons (5-3), and Chad Kahlert went 1 for 3 with three RBIs.

Flowery Branch plays host to Salem on Monday before holding the team’s veterans appreciation night against Gainesville on March 21.

WHITE COUNTY 7, BANKS COUNTY 2: Stetson Gearin went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs for the Warriors on Wednesday in Homer.

Joel Pritchett finished 2 for 3 with a double, and Will Flowers went 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Matthew Hambrick earned the win pitching with five hits and six strikeouts.

White County plays host to Dawson County on Friday in Cleveland.

JEFFERSON 17, COMMERCE 6: Trent Sorrells hit a grand slam for the Dragons, and Jake Franklin hit a three-run homer on Wednesday in Commerce.

Hanon Price also had a home run and a double for Jefferson (8-3, 3-0 Region 8-AA), and Micah Carpenter went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Carpenter earned the win from the mound with six strikeouts, and Sorrells got the save.

The Dragons play host to Wesleyan at 5:55 p.m. tonight in Jefferson.


WESLEYAN BOYS 4, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 1: Lee Allen Martin earned the lone win for the Lions at No. 1 singles on Wednesday.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, BANKS COUNTY 0 (Tuesday): Natalie Oxley battled for three hours to win the No. 1 singles match for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday.

Oxley won in three sets, 7-8, 6-4, 7-5 for North Hall. Kelsey McCray and Tricia Dial also earned singles wins for the Lady Trojans.

Hannah Gibson/Kaitlyn Smith and Courtney Barnes/McKay Higginbotham won doubles matches to ensure the sweep.
