The Local Agenda: Hall commissioners expected to OK grant applications

POSTED: March 10, 2014 11:29 p.m.

The Hall County Board of Commissioners is expected to approve a number of treatment services grant applications for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council when it meets Wednesday.

The grant applications, if approved, are aimed at increasing funding for the Hall County Drug Court, Hall County DUI Court, Hall County Family Treatment Court and Hall County HELP Program. All applications require in-kind matching funds and continue previous support of these programs. The Board of Commissioners also will consider a grant application for funding of the Hall County Veterans’ Court.

Meanwhile, the board will consider a previously tabled item regarding a request for proposals for the Gainesville-Hall MPO 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The board is expected to award the contract, which has a budgeted amount of $207,000, to one of five companies that placed bids.

The Hall County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville.

The council also will review a proposed amendment to the city’s alcoholic beverage ordinance intended to allow Growlers on Main in Flowery Branch, which serves draft beer to go, to open a new location in the Gainesville downtown square.

The Gainesville City Council will meet at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Room 301 of the administration building, 300 Henry Ward Way.
