Three combine for one-hit shutout as Jackson County tops Johnson 10-0

Andrew Fogarty, Chris Griggs and Max Wilson combined for a one-hit shutout for Jackson County and 10-0 victory against Johnson in five innings on Monday.

At the plate, Tyler Sartain had a pair of doubles, three RBIs and scored twice, while Ben Brissey added a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Cal Tolbert scored twice for the Panthers (7-2).
On Friday, Jackson County faces Pike County in Zebulon.

WHITE COUNTY 5, BANKS COUNTY 2: Senior Spencer Adams had a pair of hits and scored twice in the region opener for the Warriors (6-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) on Monday in Cleveland. Joel Pritchett earned the win and had a two-run double at the plate.

On Wednesday, White County visits Banks County at 5:55 p.m. in Homer.

WEST HALL 5, DAWSON COUNTY 3: Cameron Johnson’s and Michael Cronic’s two-run home runs propelled the Spartans (5-1, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) to victory on Monday. West Hall faces Dawson County on Wednesday in Oakwood.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: The Lady Trojans won without dropping a set on Monday in Gainesville.

Natalie Oxley won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, along with a victory from Karleigh Dills at No. 3 singles for North Hall.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Kelsey McCray won at No. 2 singles. In doubles play, the teams of Kaitlyn Smith/Tricia Dial and Courtney Barnes/Mary Clare Patterson won for North Hall (5-1, 2-0 Region 7-AAA).

North Hall visits Banks County today in Homer.

NORTH HALL BOYS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: The Trojans won without losing a set Monday in Gainesville.

Jackson Davis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for North Hall, while Jeffery Kiser and Dalton Patterson also won in singles play.

In doubles, Matt Booth/Paxton Gillespie and Daniel Martin/Matthew Chewning won in doubles for the Trojans (6-0, 2-0), who face Banks County at 4 p.m. today in Homer.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 5, HERITAGE 0: Haley Frankum won her match at No. 3 singles for the Lady Red Elephants 6-0, 6-0 on Monday. Brinkley Frankum won at No. 1 singles for Gainesville, while Katherine Wright won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Morgan Mercer/Georgia Summer won at No. 1 doubles for the Lady Red Elephants, while Suzanne Smith/Sally Callahan won at No. 2 doubles.

On Thursday, Gainesville visits Apalachee in Winder.

JOHNSON BOYS 3, LUMPKIN COUNTY 2: Caleb Herring won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Knights while David Le had a three-set victory at No. 3 singles on Monday. At No. 2 doubles, Erik Dinkel and James Butcher won for Johnson, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2.

WHITE COUNTY PLACES SECOND AT SPRING SWING: Led by Candler Kimsey’s 89, the White County girls took runner-up to Gainesville in the Spring Swing outing on Saturday in Cleveland. Hannah Wall fired an 87 for the Lady Warriors, and Brittan Slaton finished with a 93.

Buford took fifth, led by Maria Luisa Ferreyros’ 85 and Breezy Walton’s 97.
