Hall County students play in honor band

POSTED: March 10, 2014 1:00 a.m.

Seven Johnson High School Band students recently participated in the University of Georgia’s Honor Band Festival.

Thousands of students from the Southeastern United States were selected, including Johnson’s Josh Butler, Abram Ehl, Kaitlin Houston, Amari Jiminez, Grant Key, Ashley Torres and Christian Trujillo. Selections were based on work ethic, dedication, skill and character.

For three days, the students learned an entire concert’s worth of music, participated in master classes for their specific instruments and studied with world-renowned musicians.

The seven high schoolers represented Johnson High School and the Gainesville community at the highest level and have gone a long way in promoting the arts as musical ambassadors for the city.
